“Keep it Simple”
Every fall and spring season, Nashville Soccer United (NSU) hosts a three-month, academy-style soccer program for U7 and U8 boys and girls, led by Coach Michel Henry. There is one practice per week every Monday (for boys) and Wednesday (for girls), from 4 to 5:15pm, with games on Saturday mornings. The cost to participate is around $200/player, with the second season being somewhat less. The option to sign up for a second weekly practice each Friday, from 4-5:15pm is also available for an additional fee. For practices and games, please have your child properly equipped with soccer cleats, shin guards, and a water bottle. Also, we strongly recommend that your child does not wear any jewelry.
All practices and most games will be held on the designated soccer field either behind Eakin Elementary or Glendale Elementary.
At the beginning of the season, players are assigned to a team headed by a Licensed Parent-Coach. We carefully balance the composition of these teams with players of varying skill levels to help keep the games both challenging and enjoyable for all players.
Weekly practices are run by Coach Henry with the assistance of Licensed Parent-Coaches, and feature 35 minutes of exercises and 40 minutes of 4v4 (three field players, one goalkeeper) scrimmages. Players consistently rotate positions throughout game-play, giving each a chance to hone their skills on offense, defense and as goalkeeper. We have designed the program this way to ensure that each player gets as many ball touches as possible. This is an approach we believe helps young players develop and feel engaged.
In addition to Monday or Wednesday practices, each team plays eight Saturday games over the course of the season. The eight games will be played at Crockett Park in Brentwood.
We, the staff at NSU, are grateful for the opportunity to help teach your children the “beautiful game” and look forward to kicking off the spring season with you.
Go NSU!
